Filed under: CMT interesting stuff ! —— julioCMT @ 5:08 pm

Hi everyone,

I have decided to move my blog on to my own domain…

please subsricbe there for running updates as usual ! I will not be posting here anymore…

this is the new URL:

http://teaching.bitbongo.com

You guys can keep your own here at edublogs, or you can open alternates at blogger.com. Or if you like you can host in your own domain. Whartever you do copy and paste your posts of the last 3 weeks on to the new one you open, if you do decide to move. It seems edublogs will be fine, but I think that I should keep your lesson plans and all that somewhere I can control better !

best,

Julio

‘Cartoons and Weirdness’ – A Tribute to Raymond Scott

Filed under: CMT interesting stuff ! —— julioCMT @ 2:42 pm

Hi everyone, just to let you know that I will be going to London for this tribute to Raymond Scott, the venue is a 2min walk from King’s Cross which makes it an ideal venue for us Cambridge people! Let me know if you want to come and we can go down on the train together. best, Julio.

Raymond Scott at work

Now based at Kings Place, The Sound Source begins its new series with ‘Cartoons and Weirdness’ – A Tribute to Raymond Scott. Bandleader, inventor and experimentalist – Scott’s career was diverse to say the least. He’s best known for inspiring the soundtracks for cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and The Simpsons, but in his time Scott also developed the first musical sequencer and even spent time as the head of electronic research and development at Motown Records.

This spirit of adventure permeates the night, from the Stu Brown Sextet’s reinterpretation of Scott’s early work to Falco Subbuteo’s experimental electronica. The Sound Source regulars no.w.here bring complementary films while The Open Source, curated by Music Orbit, provides a unique platform for the best emerging composers and artists.
