Laptop Mus – Hand IN IMPORTANT

Filed under: Laptop Musicianship —— julioCMT @ 2:04 pm

Guys,

I don’t know what kind of rumour is spreading around about hand in, but taken directly from the full module guide which you have:

”The final portfolio must be submitted by Monday, December 17th, 2007, 3pm (latest) at
the Student Information Centre (Rackham 03) “

there will be no excuse for not knowing this… it in the module guide which you have had since the start of the semester, anyone handing in  the FINAL portfolio through webCT only will be in trouble…

just in case it is not clear:

”The final portfolio must be submitted by Monday, December 17th, 2007, 3pm (latest) at the Student Information Centre (Rackham 03) ”

… and all together now:

“The final portfolio must be submitted by Monday, December 17th, 2007, 3pm (latest) at the Student Information Centre (Rackham 03) “

and one more time:

“The final portfolio must be submitted by Monday, December 17th, 2007, 3pm (latest) at the Student Information Centre (Rackham 03) “

Did I mention about week 12?

:)

Good luck !

For those who asked about them today, they are here,

Step by step tutorials on synthesis using SuperCollider and which assume you are simply a musician and it is your first time programming… it works almost always, although there may be a couple of examples I should take out… Anyhow if you want to dig deeper into the pattern thing we looked at today, launch SuperCollider and type the word ‘Stream’, highlight it and choose ‘help’ from the main menu, the tutorials are there !

best,

Julio

The Freesound Project

Filed under: CMT interesting stuff !, Laptop Musicianship, Music For Media —— julioCMT @ 7:48 pm

The Freesound Project is a collaborative database of Creative Commons licensed sounds. Freesound focusses only on sound, not songs. This is what sets freesound apart from other splendid libraries like ccMixter. Read the What is Freesound page to learn more!

Visit here for a pretty comprehensive library of royalty free sounds. These may come in handy for a variety of modules…

best !

Sound Reasoning: A New Way to Listen

Filed under: CMT interesting stuff !, Laptop Musicianship —— julioCMT @ 6:24 pm

If you have not had a traditional music education, chances are that terms such as form, or ‘musical logic’ are alien to you. Even if you have had such an education, chances are you may not differentiate between ‘fugue’ and ‘ricercare’… Here is an excellent resource that you could follow in your own time to fill in those gaps in your knowledge. It will be especially useful for students of Laptop Musicianship, but if you are curious, there is a lot you can learn here !
